Shawna Castillo, Hospital Manager

Shawna was born and raised in southwest Iowa and has always had a love and passion for animals. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Animal Science & Industry and Agricultural Communications & Journalism from Kansas State University in 2009. She moved to Summit County in January 2011 to fulfill her dream of living in the mountains. She began working at Frisco Animal Hospital in January 2011 and became Hospital Manager in April 2013. Shawna feels very lucky to work with such talented doctors and team members and takes pride in knowing that Frisco Animal Hospital is always evolving to be on the forefront of patient care, veterinary medicine and customer satisfaction. Shawna lives with her dogs, Myra and Ezra, and loves to mountain bike, snowboard, cook, travel, and listen to live music.

Heather Dwyer, Client Service Representative

Heather grew up in Streamwood, IL. She graduated from Harper College with an Associates Degree in Biology. She has been working in the veterinary field since 1996. Once her kids graduated from High School she moved out to Colorado to fulfill her dream of living by the mountains. She lives with her husband, 2 sons, 3 dogs and a cat. She loves to go hiking, camping and spending as much time as possible with her family.

Melissa Pacheco, Certified Veterinary Technician

Melissa is a Colorado native and was born and raised in Arvada. She recently moved up to the mountains to fulfill her need to be surrounded by mountains. She gradated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelors degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2011 and then received an Associates degree from Bel-Rea in Applied Animal Science in 2014. She has a passion for snowboarding, hiking/backpacking, camping, live music, traveling and of course animals. She hopes to adopt a new family member of the dog variety soon.

Katie Anderson, Certified Veterinary Technician

Katie is from Fort Collins and completed the veterinary technician program at Front Range Community College in 2012. She has been working as a Certified Veterinary Technician for the past several years, and recently moved to Leadville with her husband and two dogs. She is loving life in the mountains and is excited to be a part of the Frisco Animal Hospital team.

Dayna Wilson, Veterinary Technician

Dayna was born and raised in a small town by the name of Templeton, located in north central Massachusetts. She grew up with a love for all animals and ever since age 10 she competed in many barrel racing competitions all around New England with her horse, Valentine. Dayna graduated high school in 2009 and went on to receive her degree in Animal Science - Veterinary Technology from Becker College. In September of 2013, Dayna moved out to Colorado to pursue her dream of living in Summit County and began working at Frisco Animal Hospital that October. In her spare time, Dayna enjoys being a Beautycounter consultant, snowboarding, spending time outdoors and listening to music. She hopes to adopt a puppy in the near future.

Melissa Bizer, Client Services/Veterinary Assistant

Melissa was born in Michigan and graduated from MSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. She is passionate about helping animals and the environment. Before moving to Summit County last December, She lived in Alaska and worked in a wildlife rehabilitation facility for marine mammals, focusing on seals and sea otters. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, snowboarding and camping. Melissa started working at Frisco Animal Hospital in August 2014 and is very excited to be a part of the team!

Krystal Kingery, Veterinary Assistant

I was born and raised in Southern California. I spent a few years in Northern California working for an emergency veterinary specialty hospital. While working I managed to graduate from a Fire Academy and get my EMT-B. I moved to Colorado January of 2016 to take a job as an Engineer/EMT. I am currently in Paramedic school and have 3 dogs and a cat. I enjoy off-roading, camping, hiking, fishing and playing hockey.

Abby Shotts, Veterinary Assistant

Abby is originally from Bucks County, PA. She graduated high school in 2009 and went to Boston University and received a BA in Biology. She spent the next 3 years working for the MSPCA Adoption Center in Boston where she discovered she has a passion for behavior modification. Abby moved to Summit County in July of 2017 to be closer to friends and enjoy life in the mountains. Her hobbies include hiking, skiing, reading and spending time with her rabbits, Pippi and Bobby.
